Juneteenth 1865

June 19, 1865 marks the end of slavery in America, as it was the day that news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Galveston, Texas, two years after the document was finalized.

Today, African Americans all over the country celebrate this day by remembering the hardships that we have faced and how far we have come as a people.
